A hair dryer is an everyday electrical appliance used as part of a routine to care for oneself—alongside showers, skincare, and hair oil.
Because it’s used while being moved around, it can sometimes feel unstable in the hand. Yet, if made too compact, it risks losing its functionality.
This is why a balanced sense of size is important.
Still, the hair dryer often spends more time not in use. What we usually see is not the object in action, but its dormant state.
Due to its size, it easily draws attention and can strongly reflect the lived-in feel of a space.
With these observations in mind, I focused not on shaping form for its own sake, but on creating a design that enhances the experience of use—a hair dryer that feels both considerate and stable.
The form was shaped using expanded polystyrene and modeling paste. By placing it on an actual bathroom sink, I aimed to capture the sense of daily life in context through photography.
Size: 200 × 75 × 200 (mm)
